Did you get hands on experience and training under some experienced cook or chef early on in your career?

Jun 26, 8:52PM EDT35

Yes for sure, my mother was my first teacher and still my best cooking teacher ( even after I got better than her with cooking haha) she used to ask me to help her at my very early years, I cook for my family only I'm not planning yet to expand my cooking talent as I'm engineering student.

Jun 28, 9:47AM EDT0

Did you study professionally to work as a chef and if yes, where did you study?

Jun 24, 2:34AM EDT0

I studied it at home :D I followed all cooking TV channels and bought magazines and asked everybody how she cooked that dish if I liked it .. and I used to trying with small amounts of food so it wasn't a waste for food to try, I love Jamie Oliver and others of cooking stars, Samantha is the best.

Would you ever compromise on quality of food to meet your deadline or to handle rush hour customers?

Jun 23, 10:30AM EDT0

No sir I wouldn't do that, I'm home chef ^_^ I cook for my family and friends only, and I always have plans for the emergency cases especially when having large number of guests in one of my family's wedding, engagement party or birthday, I set up a menu for the week, Prepare the food that can be saved frozen, Do things in parallel when I get home like boiling water while changing clothes and taking shower, this way I never get stuck with a rush hour.

Jun 28, 9:31AM EDT0

Which reputed places have you worked at and gained experience so far?

Jun 22, 3:03PM EDT0

I don't work as a chef, I'm chef for my own family only :)

Jul 5, 7:16PM EDT0

What would you do to tackle a rowdy crowd of people at your restaurant?

Jun 22, 9:02AM EDT0

I actually cook at home only, I'm my house's private chef :D my family is big tho, if there's so much we eat in groups, like if it's a bday party some go out and some stay inside and eat, then they go out and the others get in :D

In general the restaurants have a guy upon the front door that tells you there's no free tables yet and you may need to wait lol 15 min in the waiting corner, they don't let it go out of control like that :)

Jun 28, 9:22AM EDT0

Do you run your own business or do you work at top, reputed places for pay?

Jun 22, 12:50AM EDT33

No Laura not yet, I just cook for my family and my friends.

The only work I just started is translating and writing, but if I get any good chance to work during the vacation I will for sure.

What steps do you take to ensure safety of your staff and yourself?

Jun 21, 4:08PM EDT0

In fact I don't work in any restaurants, I cook only for ky family or my friends.

I think cooking is very safe when working in regular kitchen, I never had any bad safety experience at my kitchen I just make sure my nephews and nieces don't get inside so they don't play with the knifes and cut their hands, do you have any advices for me ? Thanks in advance

Jun 28, 9:08AM EDT29

Do you look for feedback for your cooking and dishes at the place of your work?

Jun 21, 10:20AM EDT58

Yes for sure, those nice moments when you're looking at their faces after tasting the dish waiting on a silent feedback, is priceless moments. Even after I masterd cooking almost all local dishes in my country I still wait for feedback (from my family, friends), not because I'm not confident but because it just makes me happy.

Jun 28, 5:05AM EDT44

i feel this too when my husband tastes my dishes)) especially new dishes)

Jul 7, 7:03AM EDT37

Do you have a specialization for any particular kind of cuisine or dishes?

Jun 21, 1:31AM EDT16

I'm home chef, I'm specialized in everything my family want to eat everyday :D I can cook almost everything professionally, I've been cooking alone for 9 years ( since I was 15 ) but the thing that I didn't master it yet is pastry but I make certain things very well such as birthday cake and cookies because I make them often.

What would you do when you have an important reservation and a fixed menu but cannot get the ingredients?

Jun 21, 12:12AM EDT0

Do you ever get sick and tired of cooking and wish for a change from the routine?

Jun 20, 12:41PM EDT0

You start getting sick of doing some when they force you to do it, but if you love your job then you will never get sick (especially if you always have plans to change the routine). I always feel happy when I cook some new and the people like it. Those nice moments when you're looking at their faces after tasting the dish waiting on a silent feedback, is priceless moments :)

Jun 28, 4:54AM EDT43

How would you tackle during rush hour when you discover you are suddenly understaffed due to some emergency?

Jun 20, 3:59AM EDT0

it's important to be organized due to getting lots of tasks done in a short time, and that's what I do every week, actually I'm home chef ^_^ I cook for my family and friends only, and I always have plans for the emergency cases especially when having large number of guests in one of my family's wedding, engagement party or birthday

I set up a menu for the week, Prepare the food that can be saved frozen, Do things in parallel when I get home like boiling water while changing clothes and taking shower, And when I say prepare the food I mean.. peeling veggies.. cutting meat ... Mincing garlic, onion and so on.

Jun 28, 4:50AM EDT47

thank you for your detailed question! it's very interesting to read!

Jul 7, 10:39AM EDT46

What kind of experiences have you had so far as a chef?

Jun 20, 12:18AM EDT40

We live and learn, every single moment in our life we learn and get new experiences, I learned with cooking to be patient because if I rushed to do something it will give unlovely result :)

What do you do when you get negative feedback though you worked hard to make the food delicious and tempting?

Jun 19, 12:51PM EDT0

Darrel You know it would be very disappointing when it happens. But, it would be happened for only 2 reasons,

  • The person doesn't like this kind of food
  • The food is not cooked as it has to be..Which is not going to happen because I don't cook for someone a meal that I didn't try before unless it's something easy and doesn't need experience :)
